IT was a very impromptu brought up topic by a Path
member, David for inviting us to the first adventurous
trip visit at Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM)
departed after heavy breakfast at a local kopitiam served
with vegetarian cuisine located at Damansara Utama
UPON reaching the main entrance of FRIM the guard
collected RM6 for the parking (RM4 included for the
driver and the car, and RM2 for each passengers)
PARKED the car right opposite the car park of the
Information Centre of FRIM, and got our tickets for
Canopy Walk (RM5) then our journey kick starts!
Will allow the pictures do the talking:

Started the journey with Rover Track (as shown in the picture)
The journey of Rover Track consists of mainly uphill track in
order to reach the destination - The Canopy Walk
There are signs for name of trees and plants all the way of
the uphill journey of the Rover Track, and here we found
this sign showing "HAZARDOUS TREE"
Rover Track which has no
difference from a jungle track
I love this photo as the path with branches
all over reminded me just alike the pebbles'
path leading us until we reach a silhouette
the uphill and downhill of Rover Track consists of
passers by like tourist or even the regular ones who
work out inside FRIM every morning - So Healthy!
Look at how steep it is when it comes to go downhill
Visitors are lucky if they felt tired, they could walk
back down the same route to the starting point
as we walked up deeper into the forest of FRIM,
all we could feel is this cozy feel that we were
surrounded by cooling trees and only a little
amount of sun on the rocks and big dried leaves
honestly, the track looked alike if you
were to travel to Taman Negara before
after 45 minutes to an hour of Rover Track's journey,
we finally reached our half destination - the entrance
to the Canopy Walkway, which will be 500m above
sea level to reach the entrance of the Canopy Walkway
Canopy Walkway is located at Bukit Lagong Forest Reserve
at 500 meter at sea level, which was constructed in 1992 for
the purpose of scientific study of flora and fauna. the whole
walkway system spans for 150 meter which is suspended
between trees at approximately 30 meter above ground level
Opening time:
9:30am till 2:30pm (1:30pm last registration)
closed on Mondays and Fridays
Ticket Charges:
- RM10 (Non-Malaysian adult)
- RM5 (Malaysian adult)
- RM3 (Student 13 years and above, student ID needed)
- RM1 (Children 12 years and below)
Map of the Canopy Walkway Trails
there were 2 separate roads to enter
and exit while you're on the Rover Track
but not for the Canopy Walkway which is
only one way through (no turning back)
we reached our destination to encounter the
Canopy Walkway which was constructed with the
assistance of the Germans. The main rule of
walking on the Canopy Walkway is to make sure you
are 2 woods' length behind the person in front of you,
and same goes to the person behind us
entrance ticket to enter the Canopy Walkway,
make sure you keep this ticket for memory as nobody
provides a certificate if you successfully walk until exit
Personally, I don't feel afraid at all for walking pass
towards the whole Canopy Walk as the precautions
done by FRIM is well supported with nets
Here we go... Let's start!

Not forgetting a smile while being
on the Canopy Walkway! (:
Peek-a-Boo! This is the first half route's rest area
within a 20 minutes walk on the Canopy Walkway.
The rest area is just a small compound structured just
alike how people started building the base of tree house

a picture captured by a German lady who was on
the Canopy Walkway with a local guide. On the
rest area we could see partly the view of city

Here we go again, after a short break
on the rest area. Kicking start the
journey right after the German lady
left the rest area. as you can see
we started 2 woods away from them
(following the rules and regulations)
Can't imagine how you will feel when
encountering the Canopy Walkway
this is a photo of David to tell you
how relaxed you should be
at last! we found the waterfall after a
long walk across the Canopy Walkway
*woots woots* it's time for feet soaking
inside the cooling waterfall water
after a short 20 minutes soak of our feet in the
cooling waterfall's water we continue our
journey by following along the only water
pipe until we could see the exit, but the
path that we had chosen wasn't easy as it was
totally a jungle without proper path to walk
WoW! What a huge rock, if you could see the
picture clearly the long tube behind is the water
pipe which acted as a navigation that lead us from
the top of the mountainous area till the bottom of the
exit where houses were build on the ground level
when we almost reached the exit of the pathway,
we took a few minutes enjoying the scenery of
little kids enjoying themselves with the lower
area's waterfall's water - cooling and refreshing
These were the little kids that I mentioned about
By looking at this picture, you will know how
refreshing, relaxed and cooling the waterfall is
Bahahaha! David's favourite pose
with the old big tree trunk

OMG! Spiderwoman in action :P
finally, a smooth stone path to walk along
until we reach the exit of the whole FRIM
forest. somehow the whole journey was
long but we never give up and never fails
giving each other the encouragement to
finish off this whole journey
i purposely emphasized this picture within the post as
you could see the black little dots were black ants even
if there's a hammer or even if there are workers trying to
build or mend the support of the pathway, but what we
could learn from the attitude of black ants is the never give
up attitude of food hunting in order to survive themselves
it is the same philosophy of no matter whether we
are encountering FRIM or even the ups and downs
in our life, we should learn from our attitude of
how we applied along the journey inside FRIM
"Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail..."- Ralph Waldo Emerson -
~ Never Give Up - Determination - Move On ~
It's so true not to give up easily. The climb was gfeat fun and a motivation.
ReplyDeleteVery true! It was a great opportunity to experience "forest" climbing with full adventurous journey.
