Let me introduce you to "cygwin". What is this all about? Cygwin stands for GNU + Cygnus + Windows. Anyway, still don't understand? Let me tell you more about it. Cygwin is a Linux-like environment for Windows. It consists of 2 parts - a DLL (cygwin1.dll) which acts as a Linux API emulation layer providing substantial Linux API functionality and it is also a collection of tools which provide Linux look and feel.
If you're really interested with it, the cygwin DLL currently works with all recent, commercially released x86 32bit and 64 bit versions of Windows, with the exception of Windows CE. What you have to notice about it is that the official support for Windows 95, windows 98, and Windows Me will discontinued with the next major version (1.7.0) of Cygwin.
Ok, I guess you will ask me why do I introduce this programme to you... If you really want to be a skillful programmer, I strongly recommend that you start learning programming with cygwin as you get to understand the commands better and you can start memorizing the key phase through cygwin programme. It's totally different from Visual Basic Studio.
So, what are you waiting for? Start downloading cygwin at http://cygwin.com and start programming now.
