SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE launched almost a year
the niche device has wonderful functions and
specifications for Samsung's balance sheet,
sold over 5 million units worldwide
WHAT do you expect more??? With something
bigger and better - Samsung Galaxy Note II
GALAXY Note II is now 5.9 x 3.2 x 0.4 inches,
slightly increased from 5.8 x 3.3 x 0.4 inches
the design is more rounded rectangular look
which follows the Samsung Galaxy S3's design
THE device has taken some beating with the size
which has gone up from 5.3" to 5.5" with HD Super
AMOLED display but reduced 1280 x 720 resolution
compared to the original Galaxy Note that has a
display of 1280 x 800 pixels, which gives the
Note II a lower pixel density (about 267ppi)
NOT much difference from the previous Galaxy Note
the current Note II has a home button, two hidden
soft keys beneath it as before, 1.9MP front-face
camera, volume button has shortened, power button
is still on the right, speaker, charger port below,
right alongside with the S-Pen slot
at the back view of the device, you will find a
8MP camera with flash, microSD expansion slot
and microSIM slot located at the different parts
of the device, unlike the Galaxy Note which is
side-by-side placed above the battery compartment
1.6GHz quad-core processor, paired with 2GB of RAM
that promises speed performance of multi-tasking
capabilities. HSPA + 21mbps connection (LTE is not
available in Malaysia yet), GPS, Wi-Fi. Expansion
of microSD cards of sizes 16, 32 and 64GB, and run
on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean right out of the box
HOWEVER, Note II's battery is one of the capturing
part as it has a larger battery, thinner than the
original at 9.4mm vs 9.65mm, but heavier by 2 grams
the enormous 3,100 mAh battery compared to the old
Galaxy Note (2,500 mAh) predicted to last the phone
with standby time of about 890 hours on 3G

Point of View from a Galaxy Note's User of whether to buy the Galaxy Note II:
Look & Feel - prefer the squarish design of Galaxy Note, compared to the rounded rectangular look of Galaxy Note II. Amazed with the bright screen's colour and resolution of Samsung Super AMOLED panel.
Interface & Display - Smoothness across pages of the home view, but just a small difference from the Galaxy Note. Good preview layout of in the application with sorted categories, like "apps", "widgets" and "downloaded". Dislike the Note II's apps icon design, which looked more for small little kids compared to the Galaxy Note.
Battery Life - A 24-hour social media (Path, Twitter, Whatsapp... etc.) user like me on this 3,100mAh's Note II is pretty impressive. Somehow, the battery lasting longevity is as good as the Motorola RAZR Maxx.

Internet & Browser - Prefer the Galaxy Note's build-in browser than the Note II because it is slower, and not user friendly to navigate between the tabs.
Camera & Gallery - New features "best photo", "best face" and "buddy share" were enlightened. Current gallery sorting is more organized, and easier to maintain. The 20 'burst' shots on Note II were automatically categorized in an individual folder itself for easy deleting or selection purposes.
Speaker - Playing "Over the Horizon" with Galaxy Note and Galaxy Note II have the very big difference. The Note II's speaker sounded alike some china made product.

S-Pen - *thumbs up* for the bigger, longer and thicker S-Pen on Note II, with phone vibrates notification when S-Pen is detached. Instant screen full of S-Pen-capable apps that were installed enables easy access. New functions introduced: voice recording, mathematical formulae and perform perfect cylindrical form.
I would only recommend interested of Galaxy Note II's consumer to buy, only if you will fully utilized the functions provided by the S-Pen. Samsung did a very good improvement towards the S-Pen functions and applications.
Conclusion - "It is just an Galaxy SIII, with longer look and a S-Pen..." ~Amuyo Tomoko
