Phone? Tablet? It’s a Phablet - Galaxy Note!

Samsung Galaxy Note is the newly known as “phablet” which combines the function of a smartphone with a screen size of a tablet. The 5.3” large screen accommodates function with a “S Pen” that could be more precise, faster and rich input similar to an actual pen.

Samsung Galaxy Note Studio roadshow is on going from 9th till 12th February at the following locations:

1. Kuala Lumpur: Oval Concourse (One Utama) – 9th till 12th February
2. Penang: Centre Court (First Avenue) – 10th till 12th February

My day of patience for 11 hours kick start as the following timeline:

11am – Crowds of the Samsung Galaxy Note Studio roadshow. This is the time where I started queuing up for the caricature drawing.

11:16am – The queue for the caricature drawing. Entrance of the queue was closed up. I was the last person in the queue itself.

This freelance photographer capturing a family portrait (whole family using Samsung Galaxy Note) waited in the queue for caricature drawing

2:00pm – The entrance of the queue been opened again. This lady (known as S), staff from Taylors Lake Side Campus in a wheel chair was behind me.

2:30pm – This family waited patiently behind me before the wheel chair lady was seen. They had the priority drawing as they bought the Samsung Galaxy Note on the spot.

Lady behind me started making noise, talked to the head of caricature drawing’s studio, gotten herself and her son a number to print her caricature on the T-shirt. The queue of printed caricature supposed to start from her.

A better explanation given here: advertising board has clearly stated that the free caricature printed on T-shirt, mug or photograph is based on sessions, it isn’t promised that all the public who queued up could be guaranteed to get the item that they choose to get. (The instructions were clear enough, DJ gave announcement too, why just can’t Malaysians listen attentively, ask or read instructions?)

4pm – This is the only time where I stood beside this sign in the caricature drawing queue. It was like few more people away till my turn.

5:30pm – Next, this is the second advertising banner or advertisement facing me during my wait in the queue. Close enough to be my turn, but still a family is ahead of me.

6pm – The crowds are still on the spot buying and questioning about the Samsung Galaxy Note, and buyers had the priority to not queuing up for the caricature drawings.

8pm – The lady whom known as S saw a roadshow staff, where she claimed to be Taylors’ student. My anger risen at that particular time as I'm next for the drawing, but the lady known as S and her son was given a priority by the so call roadshow staff (Taylors’ student) to head to the priority customer’s counter for the caricature drawing. This is JUMP QUEUE!

8:30pm – Luckily I wasn’t the only one who voiced up, people whom were still queuing behind me did the same thing. Managed to force the authorities to go by rule - follow the numbers distributed to the public!

9pm – There goes the end of my caricature drawing by this artist, Raihan Nordin, who had patience of accepting me as his last customer before he heads for his first break . I am now at the printing collection counter, and this roadshow staff, shown in the picture below told me to wait for another hour to collect my T-shirt. I can’t be bothered, went to have my dinner and came back to collect my T-shirt.

10:27 – This is the time where I collected my T-shirt.

Feedbacks to Samsung Event Management Department:
1. Allocation of CARICATURE ARTIST is insufficient
(break time allocated was insufficient for them)

2. CARICATURE MANAGEMENT of the item (T-shirt, Mug or Photo) changing is bad. No announcement given to notify the public who queued up for almost 8 hours for the caricature drawing.

3. few ROADSHOW STAFF bringing known friends (public who queued for the caricature drawing) to JUMP QUEUE

4. some ROADSHOW STAFF is unclear of their own duties, task briefing is unclear

5. some ROADSHOW STAFF is unclear of the Galaxy Note's promotion and price

Hope that the Samsung Event Management Department will have a better result to serve the public in the future roadshows or events.

  1. Oh. My. God. You waited 11 hours for it!? I got in the queue at 11:30am. I was in front of the 2 guys in black shirt (in front of red shirt boy in 2nd photo). Got my drawing & t shirt done by 5:30pm.

Seriously, there are quite a few people jumping queue and event staff allowing the whole family get their drawings done all at once just because 1 parent bought SGN.

There was also this woman who (accordingly to the people who line up) was the very 1st person on Sunday to get her drawing done, and then somehow negotiated with staff to allow her daughter to get hers done WITHOUT even queuing up!

11 hours... and I thought me queuing for 5 hours was bad enough. Props to you.

  2. Yea, 11 hours was a predicted timing as there will be huge crowds on Sundays =)

You're lucky but when it was almost my turn, the artist mostly went for break. The leftover artist was only 2 person.

I hope there are better controls on the other roadshows at The Curve and this week in Sunway Pyramid.
