A Lesson Learned.....

" Recently, there has been a lot of happening in the college. The students are unhappy with a certain lecturer for being irresponsible. I would like to share to you my point of view. I do hope everyone, both teachers and students, do learn from this. Some students argued, ‘That certain teacher is not good, and this causes us (students) to be like that.’ And other hand, the teacher will also argue, ‘The students are so naughty, we have done our best and they are still that naughty. So we let them be.’ …..and it goes on and on. It is just like which comes first: the chicken or egg?

I believe, being as a teacher, we are paid to educate students. If we decide to be a teacher, we are responsible to bring these students up through thin or thick. Teaching is not an easy job as many people think. It involves many hours of preparation and also, trying to get the attention of the students. It is not just going out there to teach. Besides teaching, we have to learn to care and love (爱心) the students. We are NOT there to just make a living (so-called teaching is easy job). If you want to be a teacher, make sure YOU (teachers) are ready to sacrifice.

Other the other hand, students…….well, let say, we talk about an irresponsible students. Students, you are there to learn. Sometimes, I am very frustrated to see students sleeping or talking in class. Why can’t you all do these activities before or after the class? As you said, ‘my parents paid so much for us to study in the college. And the teachers are irresponsible.’ Think again. Do you think sleeping in class, talking, cheating, disappearing from classes and so on… are not an irresponsible action? Your parents’ hard-earned money are spent on these irresponsible actions. By doing these irresponsible actions, sometimes these MAY cause some teachers to be frustrated as we have put in many hours in our preparation.

As one of my students told me that IT IS A TWO-WAY TRAFFIC. Said, what if both the teachers and students being RESPONSIBLE. I believe, all of us can achieved excellent result…………….THINK! "
