AWS Power Outage

Major impacted sites such as Instagram, Pinterest and

Netflix has been caused by the power outage at Virginia

It was the second time in less than a month where

Amazon's Northern Virginia data center has suffered

the outage which then impacted the above popular sites

the storm that strike at the Northern Virginia shown

the Electic Compute, Elastic Cache, Elastic MapReduce

and Relational Database Service to be out for an hour

The latest updates from Amazon's dashboard:

8:21 PM PDT We are investigating connectivity issues

for a number of instances in the US-EAST-1 Region.

8:31 PM PDT We are investigating elevated errors rates

for APIs in the US-EAST-1 (Northern Virginia) region,

as well as connectivity issues to instances in a single

availability zone.

8:40 PM PDT We can confirm that a large number of

instances in a single Availability Zone have lost power

due to electrical storms in the area. We are actively

working to restore power.

8:49 PM PDT Power has been restored to the impacted

Availability Zone and we are working to bring impacted

instances and volumes back online.

9:20 PM PDT We are continuing to work to bring the

instances and volumes back online. In addition, EC2

and EBS APIs are currently experiencing elevated

error rates.

9:24 PM PDT We can confirm that a large number of RDS

instances are impaired. We are actively working on

recovering them.

9:54 PM PDT EC2 and EBS APIs are once again operating

normally. We are continuing to recover impacted

instances and volumes.

Good news! If you're a youth between aged 13 to 25 year old, you will receive complimentary 1-year nebo membership. Even if you are an existing member, you will get renewal of 1-year nebo membership. Isn't that a good deal?

Disappointing Parcel

received a parcel in the afternoon but

i didn't have the urge or eager to open

up the parcel which im totally unsure

what was the reason behind the feelings

even though i knew the parcel was from

Seattle, USA and also i could guess the

content of the parcel so i just put it

aside and continue with my work

oh well, i shall just let the photos

do the speaking and narration:

 

The parcel arrived during lunch time at my

office, and at the first look towards the

parcel im actually already disappointed as

i knew the contents were totally destroyed

 the seal of the parcel was seriously sticky and

i guess that shows the quality of 3M's product

it took me the effort of not destroying the

envelope but couldn't help it that the seal was

extremely sticky till i have to put force on it

part of the content of the parcel -

took me after so long to open the parcel

as i knew this condition will happen

oh well, there were total of 3 CD's and

ended up two of it had a very big crack!

size of XL and XXL... OH MY GOD!

oh well, i was really disappointed and

down after opening the parcel and will

hope for both the New Height's liveshow

in Singapore and Malaysia to cheer me up

Coffee Workshop @ Università del Caffè della Malesia

have you ever tried making a cup of aromatic

coffee with knowledgeable skills from the basic

of knowing the types of coffee beans, water

temperature and served with beautiful coffee art

i was one of the lucky winner for Coffee Workshop

for two from TimeoutKL's twitter's retweet contest

contacted my good friend, Ika to tag along with me

on a beautiful Sunday Morning, which was located at

Università del Caffè della Malesia, PJ Section 16

the university, officially opened in January 2010 that

provides courses with complete theoretical and practical

training on all subjects associated with coffee, which

emphasizes on the fascinating process from the bright

red cherry to the best cup of espresso served

at the beginning we reached kinda early where the

coffee workshop supposedly to be starting at 10am

however maybe it was a Sunday morning and it turned

up to only have total of 5 attendees who came for it

a brief introduction about the university and types

of coffee beans knowledge was brief through by Evelyn

and the workshop session carried on by learning the

perfect cup of espresso and cappuccino with skills

the session of making a cup of perfect espresso and

cappuccino plays the important part as we were taught

what are the most suitable ingredients used, the dose,

the water temperature and the technique of tamping

the variety of coffee machines and equipments

provided on the day of the coffee workshop

making a perfect cup of cappuccino and decorating the

serving with a proper coffee art consumes the time of patience

the most highlighted part of the workshop which is

the coffee art of various patterns here are some of

the examples done by the master barista of the day

Packed Weekend Ahead

a very tight schedule and packed weekend

soon approaching starting tonight as most

of the events are all gathered up to be

at the same time throughout the weekend

and i have chosen from the happenings to

attend what i felt is beneficial for me

Here goes my schedule:

22nd June, Friday: Catching up the Aeroline

heading towards southwards into Singapore as

it was a last minute decision where i had to

head down to drive up my foster brother's car

as for the planning since im heading down and

23rd June, Saturday: i was thinking to find out

how the Singapore dodgeball team plays dodgeball

at Siloso Beach and after the session, i will

just drive back up with my brother's car to Kuala

Lumpur since he will be back to KL next week

24th June, Sunday: i will choose to attend the

coffee workshop which i won the retweet of the

coffee workshop for two from TimeoutKL held at

Universita del Caffe della Malesia, Section 16

after having a good lunch with Ika and off back

home to have a good rest to meet up the members

of MAD at night to attend the "Appreciation

Night of 2012 National Youth Event" at Putrajaya

well, wishing everyone to have a great weekend

ahead with beneficial schedules and meet up!

Shakil Speaks @ Le Web

Le Web is well known to bring the most influential

audience in the international internet ecosystem as

every year there will be about people from 76

countries gathered up to attend the whole event

the current happening Le Web in London from 19th

to 20th June has been a great event where different

speakers of role as the founder and CEO were

being invited to speak for a unique session

as the rising application in the market known as

Path, the Head of Special Projects, Shakil Khan

has been invited to speak at Le Web London

call from Dave Morin (Co-Founder & CEO), mentioning

do you want me to explain what just took place in

Malaysia. We are increased from the last 48 hours.

There will an answer after I arrived in Kuala Lumpur

"Path has users, probably 98% from the countries in

the world, and there were 3 users join from Kazakhstan

(which surprises me)."

"Think of the scenario where Facebook builds the cities,

Path builds the homes. The privacy element, the user base

is much smaller, the number of friends are much smaller,

and people tend to share a lot more private moment."

"Path is a social journal for getting along with family

members and close friends. The average number of friends

on Path is 40 friends. Facebook is copying Path, and we

will take that as a compliment."

National Dodgeball Championship 2012 (Central Zone)

National Dodgeball Championship 2012 is back in

action where all the qualifying rounds will take

place, spreading off the whole month of June

at the following venues:

East Zone: 9&10 - Kompleks Belia & Sukan, Terengganu

Central Zone: 16&17 - Taylor's Lakeside University

South Zone: 23&24 - Kompleks Belia & Sukan, Paroi

North Zone: 30&1 - Kompleks Rakan Muda Jawi, Penang

the just past 15 hours the central zone's qualifying

round ended at Taylor's Lakeside Campus where all

teams fought through the matches that went through

both days (16th and 17th June) to compete into top 6

There were total of 6 male and female teams qualified

for the Grand Finals from central zone and they will

compete with the other teams from the other zones for

Grand Finals on 27th October at Mines Convention Centre

Malaysia's Path Gathering 2012

A MONTH BEFORE THE GATHERING...

out of a sudden from a comment reply on Path where

David came out with the idea of a get together session

for all Malaysian's Path users at a particular date

after few days of discussion the comments and the whole

plan came true and it is gonna be happening for the 1st 

ever Malaysia's Path Gathering is gonna happen on  

2nd June 2012, Saturday at Fatspoon Cafe

3 WEEKS BEFORE THE GATHERING...

on the other side, there was this surprised phone call from

a guy named, Shak from UK clarifying from me regarding

the gathering and continued the process where emails were

sent to communicate with him and here comes a guy named,

Jeremy took over to in charge and send us surprises by

DHL-ing the samples of Path T-shirts

with proper packing and awesome TShirt material

1 WEEK BEFORE THE GATHERING...

attendees were a total number of roughly 15 heads

but the whole situation is still played by ear

while on Path there were many response given

on David's Path post and comment box where

each and every of them were interested about

the Path TShirts and also the gathering

2 HOURS BEFORE THE GATHERING...

the lucky draw numbers were being prepared just in

case there were really a big crowd of people to stand

the chance to win those Path TShirts

AT 7:30pm SHARP...

David and I arrived earlier than the expected time

at Fatspoon Cafe where we had conversations on

going while patiently waited for the attendees but

unfortunately David was disappointed by all of the

sudden replies of attendees who gave weird excuses

that they could not make it for the gathering!

What a waste of opportunity it is...

oh well, not disappointing ourselves with the number of

attendees, we ordered few Fatspoon Cafe's light bites.

While my friend Michelle arrived just on time where all

the special Fatspoon Cafe's Light Bites were served

While waiting for the final attendee, Nantha, we could not wait

any further to fill up our empty stomachs and there and then we

proceeded with all the special dishes of the night (Perut Ikan,

Curry Chicken, Steamed Tofu, Prawns to go with Rice) but it

was lucky for Nantha that he did arrived about 30 minutes after

when all the special dishes were served

AN HOUR AFTER 7:30PM...

at first we only thought there were total of four attendees

but coincidentally one of the Path user, named Firdhaus who

was having dinner with his wife and son just bumped into

Nantha and he just knew the Path gathering is happening

right here at Fatspoon Cafe, Uptown Damansara

with his enthusiasm of supporting our effort, Firdhaus

joined in and we started to introduce ourselves and i

guess that is with God's gift to allow us to meet new

people and share our prospects of our career and industry

the flow move on with just simple conversations between the

five of us - David, Nantha, Michelle, Fidhaus and I and we

all have the same perspective to have a bigger crowd during

the next gathering which is gonna happen again soon

would specially like to thank David, Nantha, Michelle and
